History 1001: The Making of Today - Contemporary World History

Guide to primary and secondary sources about contemporary history

Why History Matters Piece

Directions (DUE 10.3)

Using Chapter 1 Section Headings in Hunt, you will craft an multimedia Explainer Piece (Google Doc) in which you offer readers a "deep dive" into just one of of Lynn Hunt's topics-- Lying, Monuments, Textbook Controversies, etc.  Aim for 3-4 good informative paragraphs per section.  Use as many words as you think are necessary to tell a good, accurate, and important story about this historical subject and why it matters.

You will use Google Docs formatting with Title and Three Heads (like this):

Background -- in which you supply your audience with the relevant context and the essential facts of the case (who did what where when how? Names, Dates, Places, Activities )

Story -- or interpretation of the case/event(s)  -- in which you explain why this happened and how this history helps us to understand our world)

Conclusion -- Explain why this history matters or what questions it raises for us today
