Tour Highlights

  • Built in 1951 by Leonard Starkes, Bertrand Hall served as the Dominican Lower School
  • Bertrand Hall is named after St. Louis Bertrand, a Spanish Dominican missionary and in memory of Mother Louis O’Donnell, the first president of the college
  • In 1965 the elementary school moved to San Anselmo, now the San Domenico School
  • Previously housed the campus bookstore and the first campus cafe, Cafe Marron, which had a tree enclosed in the back patio
  • Today, Bertrand is home to the Barowsky School of Business, along with financial aid, academic advising, the registrar's office, student health center, business services, mailroom, and faculty offices
  • Original school lockers remain on the second floor
