About the Conference

The Dominican University of California Scholarly and Creative Works Conference is an annual one day event honoring undergraduate and graduate students' research and creative works. The event showcases student research papers and posters, creative writing, art work, dance and music performances through presentations to a live audience.

Eligibility to Present

Students eligible​ to present ​are​ those working on their undergraduate or graduate theses/capstone projects (even if it is in the proposal stage), including:

  • students graduating in spring 2020
  • students working on their capstone​ projects​ during their junior year
  • students graduating in December 2020 ​​ may present a thesis/project proposal​
  • students ​who graduated​​​ in December 2019 are ​encouraged to return and present on their completed work​

2020 Priority Registration Deadline

Students who register before the deadline have priority when the conference schedule is created.  This means that students who register by the deadline will be grouped with other students from their major and  and will be scheduled as best as possible according to their preferred presentation window (i.e. afternoon or evening)

Students who register after the deadline are still eligible to present at the conference, however, the will be scheduled in available time slots. We can't guarantee that they will present in the same room or time window as the rest of students from their major.

  • Conference submission must be received by Sunday, March 8, 2020
  • Students must submit a presentation description of no more than 300 words.
  • Presentation formats can be either research posters or oral presentations
  • Students must have permission from their faculty advisor prior to submitting their presentation description
  • The conference schedule will be posted by April 1st.

Final Presentation Submissions (optional)

If you would like to share the full text of your oral or poster presentation online you may send it to  This is highly encouraged but not mandatory.  People may miss your presentation or they may want to go back an look at your poster or read the text of your presentation and view your slides.  Having it in Dominican Scholar is the easiest way to share your materials and increase your professional online presence with a permanent link to your materials.
