Course Description

English 3015 is an advanced course in Shakespeare, focusing on his sonnet sequence and a selection of his comedies, histories, tragedies, and romances.  The course examines specific works of Shakespeare as literature and pieces of art.  In addition, it looks at these works as having existence and meaning within contexts.  The main contexts considered are literary, dramatic, historical, political, religious, and cultural.
