In 1999 works from 1923 would have entered the public domain but congress entered legislation that delayed this for 20 years. It's 2019 now and for the first time in two decades a large amount of material will move out of copyright into the public domain. Now that this work is out of copyright, faculty and students can reuse and adapt films, books, poetry, and music from 1923 to create new work, post online, write new versions, play in concert, etc.
